I grew up working for one small business after another. I saw up close how hard owners work, and how much rides on the next customer coming through the door. The work itself was never the hard part. Finding the next job was.
I went on to study civil engineering and spent six years with the Coast Guard. Engineering taught me to build things that hold up and to measure everything. The Coast Guard taught me that when people are counting on you, you show up, you do it properly, and you own the result.
Eventually I got hungry to build something of my own. I retrained as a software developer and started More Knocks to put those habits to work for the kind of businesses I grew up in.
