Product/To manage your crew/Check-in & check-out
Know when jobs start and finish
Cleaners tap Check in at the door and Check out when they're done. You see who's on site without calling anyone, the customer gets an email that the crew has arrived, and the hours land on the pay run. No GPS tracking, on purpose.
What changes
Start and finish times nobody argues with
Calling to ask if the crew has arrived
Check-in and check-out from the cleaner app
Timesheets filled in from memory
An arrival email to the customer
Arguments about hours on payday
Hours straight into payroll
How it works
Two taps a job, and the hours take care of themselves
One tap when they arrive, one when they leave. Everything else follows from those two times.
The day's jobs show who has checked in, when, and who's finished. When a landlord calls to ask if the cleaners are there yet, you look instead of phoning Aisha mid-scrub. A 9 AM with no check-in by 9:20 is your cue to call, before the customer does.
When the crew checks in, the customer gets an email that the crew has arrived. It saves the call from the customer at work, the tenant who has already moved out and the property manager with nine units.
Every check-in and check-out becomes hours on that cleaner's week, job by job, and those hours feed the next pay run. Nobody fills in a timesheet from memory, and nobody argues about Wednesday on payday.
More Knocks records when a cleaner checked in and out at a job. It doesn't follow them between jobs or after they leave. Good cleaners are hard to find, and an app that watches their lunch break is a good way to lose one.
KnoxI know when the clean started. Where you bought your coffee is your business.

Questions
What owners ask about check-in & check-out
How do cleaners check in?
From the job in their crew app: one tap on Check in when they arrive and one tap on Check out when they're done. Each cleaner checks in for themselves, so a crew of two gives you two sets of hours.
Does check-in use GPS?
No. There's no GPS tracking, before, during or after the job. You see the time each cleaner checked in and checked out at a job, and that's all. It's the record you need for pay and for the customer, without following anyone around town.
What does the customer get when the crew arrives?
An email that their cleaners have arrived, sent when the crew checks in. It saves the "are they there yet?" call, especially from landlords, property managers and customers who are at work.
How do check-in hours get to pay?
Every check-in and check-out becomes hours on that cleaner's week, job by job, and those hours feed the next pay run in cleaner pay. Nobody fills in a timesheet from memory on Friday.
What if a cleaner forgets to check in?
You'll see it, because the day's jobs show who has checked in and who hasn't. A job that started at 9 with no check-in by 9:20 is your cue to call, before the customer does.
Do I need a policy if I track my cleaners by GPS?
In Ontario, employers with 25 or more employees on January 1 need a written policy on electronic monitoring, and the province's guide gives GPS tracking as an example (ontario.ca, updated July 8, 2024). More Knocks doesn't track location, but your other tools might. Other provinces have their own rules, and Ontario's covers employees, so ask an employment lawyer how it applies to your team.
