More Knocks

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 21, 2026

Plain-language answers about what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

The short version

  • We collect only what we need to answer you, run your account, and deliver our services.
  • We never sell personal information, and we never share mobile numbers or text-message consent with anyone for their marketing.
  • When we send review requests for a client, we act on that client's behalf and under their instructions.
  • Some of our tools store data in the United States. We tell you which and why.
  • You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information at any time by emailing landon@moreknocks.com.

1. Who we are

More Knocks ("More Knocks", "we", "us") provides reputation management, website, and local search services to local service businesses. We are based in Alberta, Canada.

Landon Lapensee is our Privacy Officer and is responsible for how we handle personal information. You can reach them at landon@moreknocks.com.

This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, our services, and the messages we send.

2. The two ways we handle information

It helps to know which situation applies to you, because it changes who is responsible.

  • You are a visitor, a prospect, or one of our clients. We decide how your information is used, and we are accountable for it.
  • You are a customer of one of our clients, for example you received a text asking you to review a plumber. That business decided to contact you and is accountable for your information. We handle it only on their behalf and under their instructions. You can contact that business directly, or contact us and we will pass your request along and act on it.

3. What we collect

From website visitors and prospects:

  • Name, email address, phone number, and business name, when you book a call or contact us
  • Anything you choose to tell us about your business
  • Basic technical information that every website receives, such as IP address and browser type, which our hosting provider logs for security

From clients:

  • Business and contact details for you and your team
  • Billing details. Card payments are handled by our payment processor. We do not see or store full card numbers.
  • Access you grant us, such as manager access to your Google Business Profile, your domain settings, or your scheduling software
  • Content you give us for your website and profiles, such as photos, service descriptions, and logos

About our clients' customers, provided by the client or their software:

  • Name, mobile number, and email address
  • The date and type of job, so the request is sent at the right time
  • Whether a message was delivered, opened, or opted out of
  • Reviews they post publicly, and our replies to them

We do not knowingly collect sensitive information such as health or financial details, and we ask clients not to send it to us.

4. Why we use it

We collect, use, and disclose personal information only for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate:

  • To reply to you and hold the calls you book
  • To set up and deliver the services a client has signed up for
  • To send review requests and reminders on a client's behalf, and to reply to reviews
  • To bill for our services and keep business records
  • To keep our systems secure and prevent misuse
  • To meet our legal obligations

If we want to use your information for a new purpose, we will ask first.

6. Text messages and email from us

If you give us your mobile number or email, we use it to confirm and remind you about calls you book, to reply to you, and, where you have agreed, to send occasional updates about our services.

  • Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP to any text to opt out. Reply HELP for help. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
  • We act on opt-outs right away, and in any case within 10 business days as required by Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation.
  • Every message identifies us and how to reach us.

We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers or text-message consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. Text-message consent is never transferred to anyone else.

7. Review requests we send for our clients

Our clients ask us to contact their recent customers to invite a review. Those messages are sent in the client's name, because the customer's relationship is with that business.

  • Clients confirm to us that they have a lawful basis to contact each person. For most, that is the existing business relationship created by a recent purchase.
  • Each message names the business and includes a simple way to opt out.
  • When someone opts out, we stop messaging them on that client's behalf.
  • We never buy contact lists, and we do not use a client's customer list for anything other than that client's services.

We ask every customer the same way. We do not offer incentives for reviews or screen out unhappy customers, because that would break the rules of review platforms and mislead the public.

8. Who we share it with, and storage outside Canada

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers who need it to help us deliver our services, and who are bound to protect it:

  • Our customer relationship and messaging platform (HighLevel), which stores contact records and sends texts and emails, and the telephone carriers that deliver those texts
  • Google, for business email and for managing Google Business Profiles
  • Our website hosting and security provider (Cloudflare)
  • Our payment processor
  • AI tools that help us draft review replies and website copy. A person checks this work, and a person always writes the reply to a negative review.

Several of these providers are located in the United States, so personal information may be stored or processed there, for the purposes listed above. While it is in another country it is subject to that country's laws, and may be accessible to its courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities.

To learn more about how we use service providers outside Canada, contact our Privacy Officer at landon@moreknocks.com.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or as part of a sale of the business, in which case the buyer must honour this policy.

9. Cookies

Our website does not use advertising cookies or analytics trackers. If that changes, we will update this policy first.

The booking calendar on our site is provided by HighLevel and may set cookies that it needs to work, such as remembering your time zone. You can block cookies in your browser settings, though the calendar may not work properly without them.

10. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as the law requires.

  • Prospect enquiries: up to 24 months after our last contact
  • Client records: for the life of the account, then up to 7 years where needed for tax and business records
  • Client customer lists: deleted or returned within 60 days of the client's account closing, unless the client asks us to do it sooner
  • Opt-out records: kept as long as needed to make sure we keep honouring them

11. How we protect it

We use safeguards suited to the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted connections, strong passwords with two-step verification, and limiting access to the people who need it.

No system is perfectly secure. If a security incident creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify the people affected and the appropriate privacy commissioner without unreasonable delay.

12. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used
  • Correct information that is wrong or out of date
  • Delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
  • Stop contacting you

Email landon@moreknocks.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We respond within 30 days, and there is no charge for a reasonable request.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (oipc.ab.ca) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca). Residents of other provinces or countries may have additional rights under their local laws, and we will honour them.

13. Children

Our services are for businesses. They are not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

14. Other websites and platforms

Our site and messages link to platforms we do not control, such as Google. Their own privacy policies apply there. Review platforms decide for themselves whether to publish, keep, or remove a review.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services or the law change. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will tell clients directly.
